Bethany Community Park Fundraisers

Our park events, baseball, maintenance, equipment and buildings are all brought to you by the hard working volunteers, Bethany Athletic Society, the community of Bethany Ontario, and our generous sponsors. Without the support of all of these people and business the Bethany Community Park would not be. As projects are approved and announced, we will publicize methods of fundraising for each project.

One of our biggest events all year, the Bethany Park Victoria Day Weekend has been a local tradition for close to 30 years. Bringing you our famous Classic Car Show & Shine now in its 23rd year, Slo-pitch Softball Tournament, Pie & Cake Contest/Auction now entering its 27th year and our annual Fireworks Display. During the weekend the gate admissions, canteen refreshments and family BBQ sales help to pay for our operating costs and yearly improvement goals.

Goals and Accomplishments

2010 - 2011: New Lawn Tractor to maintain the grounds
2011 - 2012: Softball bleachers, Softball Dugouts
2012 - 2013: Camera Security System, New Swing Seats
2013 - Not yet announced

Every year we get suggestions from the community to help improve our park. We act on these suggestions as best we can, within our budget. Some of the ideas on the table are:

A new and larger swing set
Soccer goal posts
Basketball court
Outdoor Ice rink
New playground creative for toddlers (2-5yrs)
Skateboard/Rollerblade/BMX Bike Park

Our general meetings are held on the first non-holiday Monday of every month at either the Bethany United Church (October through March) or at the Bethany Park Pavilion (April through September) at 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

Our New Dugouts!

As anyone who visits the Bethany Park can see, we have installed some wonderful new dugouts for our softball players! Our goal for 2012 was to get the funding sorted out and get these new dugouts put up for the children to enjoy. Well we can now say that we are done! We were also able to replace the boards in our bleachers so the spectators could be more safe and comfortable while watching our events and softball games.

Many heartfelt thanks go out to our volunteers for their hard work and manual labour to get all of these improvements built for us. We also want to give thanks to the City of Kawartha Lakes for approving our application for funds from the 50/50 Community Project Capital Funding Initiative. The City was able to help the Bethany Athletic Society by splitting the cost of these improvements to the Bethany Park to make the Park a safer, more fun environment for everyone in our community.

We hope everyone enjoys these improvements, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to keep the improvements coming. Any community members with ideas or suggestions are strongly encouraged to contact us, volunteer a little bit of time or attend board meetings for the Park. This Park is for the entire Bethany community and we rely on your feedback to ensure we are meeting your needs!
